I want to marry an international student who is in the country already. What visa does he need?
November 11th, 2009 | by admin |My boyfriend is a Spaniard studying on a J-1 visa, which is valid until the end of August. If we want to get married, do we need to apply for a K-l visa and wait for authorization and visa change, or get married then apply for the change afterwards?
You do not have to get a visa to get married, but he will need to apply for a new visa to live and work in the US.

Marriage will not change status. He needs to apply for a new visa. He may have to leave to wait for it since his other one expires soon
