When should I buy plane tickets to go to Dublin, Ireland in July/August?

October 7th, 2009 | by admin |

My parents live in Ireland and would like me to visit in the last week in July, first two weeks in August. I would be flying from the Atlanta airport. I have been searching and the in the last month the tickets went from $1000 to $1200. I was kind of hoping to pay less than $800. So, when is the best time to buy? Any advice(from experience would be best) is appreciated. Also, what sites were the best for international tickets? THANKS(and I’ll choose a winner by tonight!)

You can fly directly from Atlanta to ireland with delta which I presume is where you are getting your pricing?

But you also have other options:
Make a connection in JFK and pick up Aerlingus from there.
Fly Atlanta- London Heathrow and pick up AerLingus or BMI from the
Fly Atlanta- London Gatwick and pick up Ryanair from there.
You could also pick up Aerlingus in Chicago, Washington or Boston but their fares through JFK are usually best.

I normally do my research using http://www.expedia.com to find the best price/route combinations, take note of the flight details and then book directly with the airline as it is normally cheaper
