Stats about 2006 NBA Finals and the 2002 Western Conference Finals?
September 18th, 2009 | by admin |Here are some statistics about 2 of the most controversial series of all time. Note: I am not a fan of the Lakers, Kings, Heat, and or the Mavericks. I am a Golden State Warriors Fan and a Atlanta Hawks fan. Really not a crazy NBA fan because there aren’t any teams that are close to were I live that are any good. I am not hating on any team just bringing up facts about these series. Here we go.
Total Fouls on the Kings 173. Free Throws attempted to made. 134-204 .66%. A bad shooting in game 7, 16-30. Vlade Divac’s had 36 fouls average of 5.14, Doug Christie 32 Fouls, and 26 Fouls on Chris Webber. Lakers surprisingly had 6 more fouls in 179 total. Free throws were 135-185 .73%. Shaq and Kobe both had 28 fouls and Derek Fisher had 21 Personal Fouls. Even though game 6 was rigged the series wasn’t. Kings shot more free throws and the Lakers had more fouls. So thats pretty interesting but Heat vs Mavs were even more crazy.
Mavericks had 164 fouls called on them and shooting 122-155 .79%. Note only Diop fouled out in game 5. A lot of people had 5 throughout the series. The Heat had 146 fouls called against them and shooting 125-207 at the foul line .60%. The Heat shot 52 more free throws and 18 more fouls called on the Mavericks. Stats were throughout the whole series.
I don’t know what to say but was the 2006 finals but was it fixed too. Please comment on this and these crazy stats. Thanks.
I will go to my grave in belief that something was plausibly fixed about the 2006 NBA Finals series.
The stats prove out the plausibility. We can all go back and watch the tapes of the games…even today 2009, I can walk through the airport wearing a Mavs jersey and I’ll here a whistle and as I turn my head to see a TV Monitor I discover that D. Wade is at the Free Throw line.
I recall one foul were Jason Terry was easily 3 feet or more away from D. Wade and the whistle was blown with a foul called against Terry.
David Stern and the NBA were never going to allow the Mavs to get close enough to actually winning that championship.
As a result, the NBA took a hit and seriously lost a group of fans.
I have since moved on to watch more NHL and various Soccer Leagues…and have not spent a penny on anything NBA since that finals!!!
Sure call me crazy, but that was the absolute worst display of a fixed Championship that I have seen pro-wrestling!!!

For the 2002 WCF I never thought the whole series was rigged. I thought game 6 was rigged. The kings were up 3-2 in the series and should have gone on to play in the Finals. Thats why people make a big deal out of it.

I don’t think any of them were fixed. I think it’s imposable to fix all 7 games in a series. Maybe one, two tops. If it was fixed it would be done 4-0 or, in the Lakers case, they wouldn’t have had a tree-peat!!!
GO LAKERS!

I don’t think many NBA Games are fixed. Its really hard to say because evidence supports it not being fixed, yet, the NBA is a large and international business, so I think it would be naive to totally dismiss the possibility that games have been fixed for marketing or other purposes.
The Kings definitely had their shot. Missed calls are a part of the game just as much as missed shots are. Missing 14 free throws in Game 7 killed them. You have to seize the moment. They could have won but didn’t get it done.
The Mavs never recovered after coughing up a potential 3-0 lead when up by 13 with 6 minutes left in Game 3. I do believe there were bad calls, and I’m a Heat fan, but fixed is a stretch.
Pistons/Spurs, Spurs/Cavs, Lakers/Magic NBA Finals all seem to show that the league isn’t fixed, because the matchups people wanted to see weren’t there.
But you could also say those were ploys to cover over the fact that some games really are fixed. Who knows really??

the Kings were screwed period.
the 2006 Finlals was kind a little fishy, and there were a couple phantom fouls called that sent Dwayne Wade 2 the free throw line.
but not nearly as bad as the Kings were screwed….
Game 6 of the Conference finals 2002 was the worst officiated game in NBA history, ask anybody that knows anything about Basketball.

and 2 tell the the truth, what was even more of a screw over was the 2005 series between the Suns and the Spurs.m PHX was pretty badly screwed out of that series, as they were again in 07.
The NBA, where, more storylines than the WWE happens.
