Is the weakenss of the Eastern Conference traceable back to when the last Jordan championship team was split?

1998 was the last Jordan championship, right? Is that when things started to gradually go downhill for the eastern conference?

The eastern conference was weak then too. The Bulls were good. The Knicks and Heat were alright. But really The East has always been weak.

didn’t the east win at least 2 of the last 4 championships or something so other the the very poor play of most of the conference this year and jordan has nothing to do with it unless drafting brown counts

    no!

though the East was, indeed weak from the time MJ left, they were able to get back on track and contend after a few years!

in 2003, who almost beat the Spurs by keeping the series close and alternating wins with them? the NETS, right?

in 2004 i can say the East was strong (but underrated…the fans failed to see it coz they were mesmerized by the ill-fated Lakers Fab 4 lineup, the vengeful Kings, the post-Admiral Spurs, and the star-studded Wolves and Mavs)… Who’s got the best record in the NBA? Not the Kings, Not the Wolves, Not the Lakers… The INDIANA PACERS had it, won 60+ games that year… and who eventually emerged as the NBA champion? The PISTONS!!! Now who’s weak??

In 2005, the San Antonio Spurs seemed to breeze their way to the Finals, and appeared to take the trophy away with them in a quick breeze… who almost stood on their way? The PISTONS!!! The PISTONS, in defense of their crown, evened the series at 2-2, and if it wasn’t for big shot Rob, they could’ve been up 3-2 and might as well finished off the Spurs in Game 6…

In 2006, who’s got the best record in the league? DETROIT PISTONS, ryt? And who won the NBA championship, after being down 2-0? MIAMI HEAT! and where was Dallas, who was primed to win after San Antonio fell to their hands in the semis? they choked!!!

And fast forward to 2008, who’s got the best record in the league? BOSTON CELTICS!!! Another Eastern team!

    Now who’s weak?
