So where are the doubters of Eastern conference basketball?
October 12th, 2009 | by admin |Lots of you said Celtics is overrated because they are in the East. East is defense. Kobe haven’t faced such in the West. Who’s conference is overrated now?
Atlanta gave Boston more sweat than West no. 1 Lakers. Harharhar.
HAHA
Here is an interesting fact about the Atlanta Hawks and their season against the super-skilled West. They beat EVERY western conference playoff team except for the Spurs (the only defensive minded team in the west). East gets no respect because they aren’t as flashy and offensive minded.

Celtics and Pistons are the only teams in the East that got better records than the west…. The 10th seed in the west has a better record than the 4th seed in the east.

The East is still incredibly inferior to the West. The 8th seed team in the West this year, the Nuggets, finished 7 games behind the Lakers (1st seed). The East’s 8th seed team, the Hawks, finished 29 GAMES behind the Celtics (1st seed). You’re saying it’s good for the Hawks to be able to have 37-45 record and still make the playoffs? They’re disgraceful! Denver was 50-32!

Everyone knew the Celtics were good, including myself. Almost everyone agreed that they were the best team in the regular season.
The difference b/w the east and west is that the east from top to bottom did not have as many good teams, except for Boston, Detroit and maybe Orlando. But out in the west, you have very good teams top to bottom from 1 to 8, like Lakers, SPurs, Jazz, Rockets, Hornets, etc..
The east has the best team, but overall the west has more good teams

Ok, lets go at it this way. If you are going to compare conferences, lets do it.
1) Lakers vs. 1) Celtics - to be determined
Nuggets vs.
Atlanta - Even swept, Nuggets had 50 wins compared to Atlanta’s 37, 8 games under .500
2) New Orleans vs. 2) Pistons - Pistons
3) San Antonio vs. 3) Orlando - San Antonio
4) Utah vs. 4) Cleveland - Utah
5) Houston vs. 5) Washington - Houston
6) Phoenix vs. 6) Toronto - Phoenix
7) Dallas vs. 7) Philadelphia - Dallas
The East has 2 teams that compete with the West. The rest of the teams have players which should be playing in the D-League. To say that the East is better because one of their two teams is doing well is not looking at the facts. The West was more competitive and outside of the Celtics and Pistons, there wasn’t one team in the East that had a winning record against the West.

Everyone knew the Pistons and Celtics could compete in the West. The rest of the East was not a the Western playoff teams level.Maybe Orlando and Cleveland would have been in the mix for a 7 or 8 seed.

Detroit might have killed the lakers also, so I think it was wrong to doubt East coast guys.

The Eastern Conference, overall, is a lot weaker than the West. Can you name any other team in the east besides Celtics and Pistons that play extraordinary defense?
Why do you even ask this question, especially this year? The Warriors, 9th in the west and didn’t even make the playoffs, would be the 3rd seed in the east.
The only reason none of the western teams has a better record than the Celtics or Pistons is because they had to play more games against teams in their own conference. 9 teams with 50+ wins, they all had to play each other many times, as opposed to the top 2 eastern teams that had great records but played the majority against Eastern Conference teams.
