The Global Food Safety Initiative standard sets out the standards required by an approved food safety certification scheme.

The GFSI standard covers the whole range of food safety management requirements for a conforming food safety management system
including the requirement that a Food Safety Management System be documented, implemented, maintained and continually improved.

Section 6.2 describes the specific requirements for good agricultural, manufacturing and distribution practices that need to be imploded in a compliant standard.

Section 6.3 states that Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point system principles, as defined by the Codex Alimentarius Commission or the National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Foods should be implemented.
