Brown University?
July 30th, 2009 | by admin |I really want to attend to Brown University. I have one golden, one silver and one bronze medal in International Youth Awards, have attented to 8 Model United Nations conferences, visiting a hospital every week, have attented to two science fairs. I also do volunteer teaching in economically poor areas. I play the piano and have 2 worthless certificates. My gpa is 3.8.Do you think I have a chance with Brown University?
You seem to have good extracuriculars for brown, but the GPA is high enough, but they don’t really care too much about the GPA. They look more at the courses you took and how well you did in each individual course, and they want to see that you have lots of honors and AP courses.

I would say you definitely have a chance. It is costly though. They say it is the most ‘colorful’ Ivy league school.

You have great stats. but not good enough for Brown. You need a 4.0 GPA, and you don’t have it. A 3.8 is still great, but not good enough for Brown. You probably could get into NYU or UCLA. I have a 3.8 too, and that’s where I am aiming for. You may have a chance at Cornell, but it is slim. I am just trying to be realistic, but get that GPA to a 4.0, and you have a good chance. Good Luck!

You have some good activities…but your SAT and other scores, as well as the type of classes you’ve been taking (honors/AP or college prep?) will factor in. Get a fabulous SAT score (and SATII scores), try to pull up your GPA (if possible), and write an amazing personal statement….and if Brown is your dream school, give it a shot.

Your EC’s are scattered and don’t really show anything special. I’m going to say no.
