Would it be possible to get into an Ivy League School for me?
August 19th, 2009 | by admin |I am currently a sophomore in high school. I have asked, and have met a lawyer and a couple of teachers who would write recommendation letters when the time came.
Academics:
- 4.0 GPA
- Tied for first in my class out of about 360 students
- Academic Letter
- All advanced classes (2 AP next year and 3 senior year)
- When I was 12 received a 16 on the ACT
- Honor Roll
Extracurriculars:
- Teen Court Judge
- People to People Leadership Seminar on International Diplomacy
- TA Mentor (help/lead freshman through their first year)
- Have a job and was promoted last October
- Starting National Honor Society this coming school year
Volunteer:
- Teen Court Judge
- Peer tutor
- Starting the Big Brother program this year
Haven’t taken the ACT yet, but am projected to get a 29-33.
There is one other thing but I can’t remember…
But how is it looking for me if I want to get into an Ivy League school?
I haven’t chosen a college yet, but am thinking insanely hard about it.
No it’s not weighted yet. I am in no AP classes until next year and senior year.
hey i’m a soph too. looks like i’m going to have tough competition for college. just leave princeton for me and take the rest. =)
From what my older cousins have told me, you look pretty good. She says that starting programs looks really good and as long as you have qualified recommendations and a nice essay, you should be in good shape. However, we both wanted to know whether your GPA was weighted or not. For example, I have AP classes and my GPA is a 4.5, with one B+. Apparently, grades are the first things that college use as an eliminator.

Very Good, with a good essay youre not only possible but a probable candidate for an Ivy league, the only thing I would work on (not theres much) is getting an extracurricular or something outside of school that isnt academic based, schools now are looking for well-rounded students. Try joining a fun club, a sport or something that shows you have interests outside of the classroom. Good Luck!
P.S. what ivy are you looking at?
